Level 2 Technician – Job Description

Job Title: Level 2 Support Technician (L2)
Responsible to: Account Manager
Place of Work: Based in Corvallis Oregon with work from home options available – must be able to drive 50-100 miles to visit clients on a semi-regular basis
Hours of Work: 40-hours per week with evening and weekend work needed occasionally (to be offset with time off during regular business hours)
Additional Hours: Over-Time will be paid for work over 40-hours

You’ll work in an office where your experience and knowledge will be used both to support our clients and to help grow our systems. Level 2 Technicians provide escalation support to the L1 while tackling more complicated tasks for clients. You’ll be given plenty of time to build your understanding and knowledge for both your own benefit and that of the company.

Job Duties

Technicians will provide IT support and technical solutions to clients in the Corvallis/Philomath/Albany/Lebanon area. This includes:

  • Troubleshooting technical issues
  • Updating and Maintaining Client Documentation
  • Fulfilling L2 ticket requests similar to:
    • Client Software Troubleshooting
    • System Failures and Outages
    • Network Equipment Failures and Troubleshooting
    • Security Implementation
    • Logging and Analysis of issues/breaches
    • Physical Computer Repairs
  • Coordinate and run larger projects, including:
    • Estimating and Client Communication
    • Network Installations
    • Server Build-outs
    • Cloud Migration
    • Equipment Clean-up and removal
  • Back filling L1 ticket requests similar to:
    • User Account Creation
    • Computer/Staff Onboarding/Offboarding
    • Backup Testing
    • System Updates
    • Hardware Updates
    • Secure Data Wiping and system recycling
    • Software Troubleshooting using internal documentation

Pay

  • This position is salaried between $20-30 per hour with benefits available.
  • Advantage Computing will take all standard holiday’s off matching Oregon State University’s Holiday Schedule.
  • Mileage is paid to staff at current Federal rate for drives from the office to client and back. Mileage reports are provided monthly.

Minimum Requirements

  • Required:
    • Use a computer effectively and efficiently in the working environment
    • Basic understanding of technical troubleshooting
    • Read, write and speak the English language to express ideas and communicate effectively 
  • Desired:
    • Ability to be patient and empathize with users, remain calm under pressure, and strong customer service orientation
    • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Administration
    • Understanding of Network Security fundamentals
    • Cloud Directory Configuration and Maintenance (policies, security groups, etc.)
